Educational qualification / கல்வித் தகுதி

• Minimum: a pass in SSLC (10th standard) (Board of Open School, Tamil Nadu 10th pass is also accepted).
• Typist / Steno Typist / Shorthand posts: also need Government Technical Examination in Typewriting / Shorthand (grades as per post) and Computer on Office Automation certificate.
• Forest Guard with Driving Licence: also a valid driving licence and experience as prescribed.
• Some posts have different qualifications (e.g. Executive Officer Grade IV) — check the post-wise table.
• Adequate knowledge of Tamil is required.

Age limit / வயது வரம்பு

• Age as on 01.07.2026.
• Minimum age: 18 for most posts (21 for VAO, Forest Guard & Forest Watcher; 25 for Executive Officer Grade IV).
• For "Others" (general) category, maximum age is 30 for most posts; some posts have no maximum age limit.
• Higher age limits / relaxations apply for BC, BCM, MBC/DC, SC, SC(A), ST, persons with benchmark disability, ex-servicemen and destitute widows — see the notification.

Application / exam fee / விண்ணப்பக் கட்டணம்

As per the official notification. Fee exemption is available for some eligible categories.

Selection process / தேர்வு முறை

• Single-stage written exam (OMR, objective, SSLC standard, 3 hours, 200 questions / 300 marks).
• Part A: Tamil Eligibility-cum-Scoring Test (minimum 40% needed); Part B: General Studies; Part C: Aptitude & Mental Ability.
• Then onscreen certificate verification, physical certificate verification and counselling (physical standards test for Forest posts).

• Recent photograph and signature (scanned)
• Aadhaar (linking with One Time Registration is mandatory)
• SSLC / HSC mark sheets (date of birth proof & education); Birth Certificate / TC if DOB is not on the mark sheet
• Typewriting / Shorthand / Computer on Office Automation certificates (for typist / steno posts)
• Community certificate and other supporting certificates if you claim reservation, age concession or fee exemption
• Driving licence & experience certificate (Forest Guard with Driving Licence)
